The companies wouldn&#8217;t make enough from passing this law because in order to have a successful newspaper they&#8217;d have to restructure their whole system instead. It&#8217;s like they want to take all the money they can from Google and that&#8217;s it. However, it is even stated in the article that these profits will hardly aid their company&#8217;s financial problems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/caitlynyu\/files\/2012\/11\/20121110_IRD001_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-50\" title=\"20121110_IRD001_0\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/caitlynyu\/files\/2012\/11\/20121110_IRD001_0-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/caitlynyu\/files\/2012\/11\/20121110_IRD001_0-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/caitlynyu\/files\/2012\/11\/20121110_IRD001_0.jpg 595w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They also say that they want to charge readers for reading more of the article, after the first two sentences. I think this is foolish because it would act as a direct\u00a0deterrence\u00a0for readers and potential consumers instead.
