Reunited with my best friends in the whole world!

I’m back in Richmond Hill, which, to my absolute delight, hasn’t changed one bit since I’ve been gone. I’ve been ordering takeout sushi with my sister from our favourite local place, having Thansgiving dinner with my entire extended family, and staying up all night talking with my best friends. It feels good to be back.

But as happy as I am to be home, I’m actually finding myself feeling a little homesick for UBC. It’s super weird getting out of bed in the morning without vaulting four feet to the ground and I almost took out my student card to pay for my food at Panera yesterday. I felt super unhygienic taking a shower without my flip flops on, and it worries me that I can’t use the mountains as a compass to help me find north. Even the tap water here tastes different!

Still, this weekend has made me realize just how much I have to be thankful for: I have amazing friends, new and old, all across the country. I have an incredible, supportive family who I can always depend on. And now, I have two places in the world where I feel completely and utterly at home.

One thing I’m not thankful for, though, is the chem midterm I have awaiting me when I get back to UBC. Let’s just say between the sushi runs and sleepovers this weekend, I didn’t exactly find much time to study. So, see you soon, Vancouver! If you need to find me, I’ll be that girl hyperventilating outside of the chemistry building on Wednesday night.
