But as happy as I am to be home, I’m actually finding myself feeling a little homesick for UBC. It’s super weird getting out of bed in the morning without vaulting four feet to the ground and I almost took out my student card to pay for my food at Panera yesterday. I felt super unhygienic taking a shower without my flip flops on, and it worries me that I can’t use the mountains as a compass to help me find north. Even the tap water here tastes different!
Still, this weekend has made me realize just how much I have to be thankful for: I have amazing friends, new and old, all across the country. I have an incredible, supportive family who I can always depend on. And now, I have two places in the world where I feel completely and utterly at home.
One thing I’m not thankful for, though, is the chem midterm I have awaiting me when I get back to UBC. Let’s just say between the sushi runs and sleepovers this weekend, I didn’t exactly find much time to study. So, see you soon, Vancouver! If you need to find me, I’ll be that girl hyperventilating outside of the chemistry building on Wednesday night.
