COURSE & GOALS

Canadian Studies 470A affords the study of Canadian literature, tackling the historical context of the stories told, passed on, and we all share about Canada; how we live, affect, change, and fight for our home and native land. It focuses on the impact of the arrival and departure of both the European and Indigenous culture on the land, sense of tradition, and orature. It gives focus on the stories heard and unheard, the culture that is known and unknown, familiar and unique, and study them through readings of academic and literary text of Canadian literature, to encourage and expose us to the stories of Canada.

The goal of the conference is to develop our digital literary skills and our online collaboration skills. It provides us the opportunity to explore the interventions of story and literature into the present while thinking about the future. It will allow us to imagine and envision a future that factors in what we have learned or “unlearned” about the past.

We must formulate a research plan for investigating the possibility, or the historical necessity, or the practical mechanics for activating one of the intervention ideas presented in the journal of our interest.
