{"id":13,"date":"2011-05-12T18:30:39","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T02:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cantill\/"},"modified":"2011-06-09T13:05:32","modified_gmt":"2011-06-09T21:05:32","slug":"submit-request","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cantill\/submit-request\/","title":{"rendered":"Submit Request"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cantill\/files\/2011\/05\/mutant.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-42 aligncenter\" title=\"mutant\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cantill\/files\/2011\/05\/mutant-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We are now offering public screening for mutations in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cantill\/can-till-projects\/\"><em>Brassica napus<\/em><\/a> using TILLING:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><\/p>\n<li>Our population is derived from the doubled haploid line DH12075.<\/li>\n<li>We screen at least 1152 nutant lines, or screen until we have identified a putative null allele or several missense alleles.<\/li>\n<li>We usually screen amplicons of 1500 &#8211; 1800 base pairs, but this depends on the length of genomic sequence avaialble to design primers<\/li>\n<li> We obtain, on average, more than 20 mutations per gene (~45% missense, 5% nonsense, and 50% silent)<\/li>\n<li>The cost for TILLING of one region (1500 base pairs) is $5000 CAD.<\/li>\n<li>In order to make a request we require either genomic or cDNA sequence from a Brassica napus variety (preferably DH12075).\u00a0 If genomic sequence is provided, TILLING is generally faster because primer design is easier.<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">To make a request or for more information please contact us by <a href=\"mailto:george.haughn@ubc.ca;erin.gilchrist@ubc.ca\"><strong>E-mail<\/strong><\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are now offering public screening for mutations in Brassica napus using TILLING: Our population is derived from the doubled haploid line DH12075.
