About Me

Hey all,

My name is Claire Eccles and I am a student at the University of British Columbia. I obtained my first degree at UBC, where I majored in Psychology. During that time I played softball for the varsity team. Sport has always been a major part of my life. I have had some of my best experiences through this, learned some of my most valuable lessons, and gained many, many useful connections that I like to maintain. My dream is to remain involved in the sports in some way, shape or form.

Sport has provided me with many opportunities to play and compete with other countries. Because of baseball, I have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Australia. I have reached a point where I don’t quite know what I want to be doing, but my next hope is going to South Africa to volunteer with kids and teach them about sports. Being an athlete is a powerful tool, as I got an opportunity in 2017 to trailblaze a path for women in baseball. I know the impact that older role models had on me when I was growing up, and I want to provide that inspiration for the next generation of people who were in a similar experience as my young self. Coaching would be a path I would love to go down, educating and shaping youth through physical activity.

When I am not going on about baseball or sports, I am down at the beach or at the dog park with my dog, Flynn. Luckily for me he is my cuddly and loving companion, and luckily for him I am his human ball chucker.
