Hey all,<\/p>\n

My name is Claire Eccles and I am a student at the University of British Columbia. I obtained my first degree at UBC, where I majored in Psychology. During that time I played softball for the varsity team. Sport has always been a major part of my life. I have had some of my best experiences through this, learned some of my most valuable lessons, and gained many, many useful connections that I like to maintain. My dream is to remain involved in the sports in some way, shape or form.<\/p>\n

Sport has provided me with many opportunities to play and compete with other countries. Because of baseball, I have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Australia. I have reached a point where I don’t quite know what I want to be doing, but my next hope is going to South Africa to volunteer with kids and teach them about sports. Being an athlete is a powerful tool, as I got an opportunity in 2017 to trailblaze a path for women in baseball. I know the impact that older role models had on me when I was growing up, and I want to provide that inspiration for the next generation of people who were in a similar experience as my young self. Coaching would be a path I would love to go down, educating and shaping youth through physical activity.<\/p>\n

When I am not going on about baseball or sports, I am down at the beach or at the dog park with my dog, Flynn. Luckily for me he is my cuddly and loving companion, and luckily for him I am his human ball chucker.<\/p>\n
