Estas páginas virtuales están dirigidas a empresas comunitarias prestadoras de servicios públicos, que deseen medir los caudales de sus fuentes de agua. Aquí, en compañía de siete organizaciones comunitarias de Colombia, les mostraré como estamos midiendo caudales en pequeñas quebradas, de una forma sencilla y no muy costosa, y como usar la información para conocer su variabilidad y tomar así mejores decisiones para su uso y conservación. Estos métodos que los mostramos aquí, son apenas unos entre muchas otras opciones que existen. Este trabajo, aunque ha sido desarrollado pensando especialmente en las organizaciones comunitarias prestadoras de servicios públicos en Colombia y en Latino América, también puede ser usado por personas o instituciones amantes de la naturaleza y de las fuentes de agua, que quieren conocerlas más.

This website is intended for water community organizations that provide public services that want to measure the flows of their water sources. Here, myself and seven water community organizations from Colombia will show you:

• how to measure flows of small streams in a simple and inexpensive way,
• and how to interpret flow data to understand its variability and thus make better decisions for water use and conservation.

The methods presented here are one of many options that exist to take these measurements. You can find some links that refer to other techniques in the right column of these pages.

Although this site was developed for community organizations that provide public services in Colombia and in Latin America, it can also be used by people or institutions who love nature and water resources and want know them better.
