La Musee des Beaux Arts

Bon nuit! Okay, so today we went to La Musee des Beaux Arts en Sherbrooke. It was very nice.  Really, I was hoping to find Brueghel’s “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus” because of the W.H Auden poem “Musee des Beaux Arts,” but Auden actually wrote that poem when he was in Brussels… which I just reminded myself of right now XP for more info check out this link: https://www.bl.uk/collection-items/landscape-with-the-fall-of-icarus

I even asked the guide if they had the painting there. Now I feel kind of embarrassed  XD.  The guide said that they actually may have one in storage…but I could not really understand their reply.  How about that.  I could ask if they had the painting but not understand their reply!  His accent was very Quebecois however… and Quebecois French is spoken much faster and certain parts of words are combined together so they sound like one word (part of the dialect, that is one thing we learned today!).  But!  I tried my best 🙂  Here are some photos of the paintings and other art exhibits I saw at the Musee…

La Grand Poutine Fest :D

Okay, so today was the first day of La Grand Poutine Fest et Festival des Bieres Artisanales a l’Universite de Sherbrooke! The festival was set up beside the Sports Center, so there was lots of room for all of the game booths and poutine food trucks.  There was also stands for bear paws and lemonade and beer, but I just had poutine.  It was so, so good! Amazing poutine-ness.  The following gallery features food and the location of the Poutine Fest.  So glad I went!

After the Poutine Fest a group of us went to a university party that was hosted outside the engineering building.  There were a lot (and I mean a lot) of people.  The DJ played a soundtrack that was a mix of French and English music, and a mix of songs that were either very recent or totally 90’s.  It was awesome XD.  There were people dancing and wearing ridiculous outfits and everything.  My friends and I stayed for about and hour or so, the peace’d out before things got really rowdy.  And that, is that!

Au cinema

Bon nuit!  So this evening a group of us went to La Maison du Cinema en Sherbrooke and saw The Incredibles 2!  And it was (wait for it) incredible! 😀 So amazing.  We saw the English version of course; nothing would be sadder than seeing such an incredible (Eee! XD) movie and not being able to keep up with the dialogue.  I am interested in watching movies in French, but not this one, I have waited too long for the second part to come out!  So there.

We took the bus there (the theatre is right across from the bus station), and then enjoyed the benefits of discount Tuesday.  Tickets cost only $6.50! :O  I have been calling discount Tuesday “moins cherche mardi”… not sure if that is correct or not XD probably not…  Anyways, here are some photos of an old projector that was outside our theatre.
