CFE Reflection Expectations

As discussed at our cohort meeting back in March, this blog is available for you to use to make your weekly reflections while on CFE. It can also serve as a place to share experiences with other members of the CFE cohort and, hopefully, enable an even richer experience. Below you will find ‘reflection requirements’ as a reminder. As requested, this blog is set as ‘private’ so that only ‘members’ of the blog (FA and TCs in the cohort) have access to the information posted.

All the best, Kelly Burt

Weekly Reflection:

Authentic and engaged participation in our community of practice is the goal.
You might see this engagement as equivalent to the ‘base requirements’ for UBC CFE (1 critical written reflection of about 300 – 500 words each week). For our purposes, this might take the form of a briefer blog post and some comments or replies to the posts or comments of others in our CFE ‘cohort’. In this way, a conversation might emerge!
Include photos – as we know, a picture really can paint a thousand words!
The purpose of the reflection is to showcase cross-community moments, different teacher strategies in varied contexts, pedagogical moments or connections to TCs inquiry questions.

Number of hours:

You are expected to work 15 days over your CFE. The hours will vary between 5-8 hours a day and may fall outside of the 8:00-4:00 work day. Ensure you know what the expectations are BEFORE you start your CFE.
Please notify your Community Partner and FA if you are going to be late or are unable to make it to the site in a timely fashion.

Professional qualities:

While on your CFE practicum be prepared to:

  • be professional
  • be collaborative
  • be open
  • be flexible
  • be willing to share your passions & enthusiasm
