Final Project: Easy Music Making and Improvising: ‘GarageBand’.

Before I  started making my UBC blog for final project in EDCP 305 class, I was frustrated that showing which art-based technology will be the most helpful for my friends and blogers. I was thinking of making one of iMovie, Photoshop, and GarageBand and I finally chose GarageBand for amateur musicians who are eager to make their own music like me. Before I knew how to use GarageBand, It was hard for me to make my own music even though I was interested in making music. However, after I took EDCP 305 course, my professor introduced us about GarageBand and it was really helpful for me. Thus, I want to share my information for people who want to make and improvise music.

In this blog, I will show you three parts: 1. Introduction of GarageBand 2. How to make your own music using GarageBand. 3. How to improvise your music through GarageBand (and a little bit of information about how to upload on Youtube using by iMovie.).

Part 1. Introduction of GarageBand.

Before I start to show how to use GarageBand, I want to remind you that GarageBand only can be run in Macintosh OS.

Windows will NOT be able to run GarageBand.

When you open GarageBand,  this page will be shown up.
You click ‘New Project’ and press ‘Choose’.

Before you make your own music using by GarageBand, you have to save the file.
You can switch tempo and key of your song on this page.
Later on, you can switch the tempo and key whenever  you want so don’t worry about it.

After you click ‘create’ button, you will see this page.
This page is for the basic page of making your own song in GarageBand.
In this page, you can add more instruments for improvising as well. (I will introduce about it later on page 3)
