My individual goal for ETEC 565
I have accomplished a master‘s degree of Educational Administration and Leadership at Brock University in 2014. It is the first step that I transfer my career into education. My undergraduate was major in Chinese literature and I had worked as a marketing professional in publishing before I came to Canada. At that time, digital marketing has just started to develop and I started my adventure to develop digital marketing strategies in publishing industry. I witnessed the strong impact from digital technologies, mobil devices and online media literacy. This experience has fostered my interest in how digital technologies make changes in traditional areas. It becomes the motivation to select Educational Technology to be my career.
The reason why chose ETEC 565 as one of my first two courses in MET is that implementing educational technology into traditional educational strategy needs the broad understanding of digital technologies and the abilities to transform the knowledge into practice. And I believe this course could help build my foundation in following ways:
1. Learn the basic theories about the implementation of educational technology including evaluation criteria, design models and the knowledge about various LMSs.
2. Creating digital contents by using different tools.
3. Gaining experience of how design instructions in different LMSs.
Besides, I hope I could have the opportunity to collaborate with people who have rich experience of teaching or online course designing. Thus I could make friends, be involved into the community and learn from other professionals.
