Listen through Oscar Award-Winner Actor, Kevin Spacey’s speech at the Content Marketing World 2014, and read about what I think about #contentmarketing.
I chose to do the content calendar mini assignment focused on using the Twitter account for my client. I would like to share some insights on my assignment which might be useful for you, who is most likely browsing through different colleague’s blogs for some help.
At first I wanted to build a customer base, since my client’s company is only several months old. I had been tweeting random information and came back with 0 responses, and was I so confused about this assignment until I came across Kevin Spacey’s video shown above and got some inspirations.
“The story is everything,” by Kevin Spacey.
It is important that every company tells their authenticated story through interacting with the audiences. This is where I decided to understand more about the market and went on conducting some hashtag searches. I went on twitter and just began this random search of hashtags to find out which ones are popular (as in how many people tweets using this hashtag) or which ones my competitors use.
Here’s a screenshot of what I did, the highlights are the hashtags identifified from different tweets:
For my assignment, I focused on testing what type of hashtags generates the right attention my client wants, and after using the hashtags identified from the method above, I started to get some (and by some I mean 1 or 2 responses only, but at least that is something to start with!) responses.
Kevin Spacey is definitely right, what is more important is how the company tell the story, and if you deliver the right information to the right audiences, the results will be there.
#Hunt or #Behunted —> you either start hunting for customers, or be hunted by your competitors.
There is no other way out.
Happy hunting for the assignment!
