Do these names sound familiar to you? 5 years ago, I would say maybe a good 1% of 18-25 year olds would have heard of these names. However, in recent years, these youtubers have flourished the online community with billions of videos attracting millions of fans and viewers. For what? MARKETING – of course. Many youtubers are now marketing themselves, their art, music, blog, film, website, basically anything!
This is HUGE. This online platform is creating so many opportunities for people who just want to get out there and start something that may not have been possible just a few years ago. Some may not be aware of the size of this community until they have tried it themselves. The amount of unnoticed talent on Youtube is just unbelievable!
I, myself, is actually a youtuber as well. (you can find me at https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMslovepeacemusic ) The reason why I started this channel was because I wanted the world to know that I have this passion for music -hence marketing my talent. When you first upload a video, there is an option to pick the genre and different tags for your video. In other words, this is defining your target market. By positioning yourself in this specific genre, the right “consumers” will eventually run into your “product” (in my case, my music). However, first things first. The “product” that you’re trying to sell should create a value to your consumers/viewers. This means that your video has be original, funny, and entertaining. If you could make someone laugh, they will eventually pass on your video to their friends, who will pass on to their friends and so on.
I encourage everyone to give Youtubing a try, maybe you will discover an audience who will “buy” your product as well! Happy Youtubing!
