Hiring people with disabilities is easier than you think

This article states that companies are starting to hire more people with disabilities. The outcome is that companies are realizing they have had a big misconception throughout the years.

What people don’t realize is that people with disabilities are just as educated and wise as other individuals and are able to do the same amount of work. As the article states, “one of the biggest misconceptions about hiring people with disabilities is that a workplace will need to be revamped with accommodations measures” (Maldonado 1). For this reason, I think companies are moving forward because they are recognizing the disability itself doesn’t matter, but rather the performance. As companies are giving people with disabilities more opportunities to work, many are appearing in the workplace with a positive attitude and aim to succeed. Those who doubted them, will be proven wrong quickly.

The sad truth is that this could be a marketing strategy for companies who want to attract more customers. This being said, consumers will notice that companies are hiring people with disabilities, and will think they are demonstrating equality in the workplace. The truth is that we don’t know what a companies motive is; however, either way, people with disabilities are benefiting as they are finally given opportunities to work at places that weren’t available before.
