{"id":60,"date":"2013-07-23T11:51:00","date_gmt":"2013-07-23T18:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/chrisirv\/?page_id=60"},"modified":"2013-07-29T11:30:29","modified_gmt":"2013-07-29T18:30:29","slug":"future-plans","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/chrisirv\/future-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Future Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My plans for the coming year in terms of utilizing skills and knowledge from this course are as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 15px;\">Consider and refer to the SECTIONS model when deciding when and if to use technology for particular pedagogical purposes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Think of what I would like the kids to learn and then decide if technology can enhance the learning environment, rather than experimenting with tools.<\/li>\n<li>Keep on top of directions in educational technology using Scoopit and Twitter, building in 30 minutes a week to peruse these curating tools.<\/li>\n<li>Complete and use the Moodle course I began developing to teach Social Responsibility and possibly make one other course in an area where few resources currently exist, for example Career and Health or French.<\/li>\n<li>Use a wiki for pro-d sharing<\/li>\n<li>Create kidblogs for my class for teaching and sharing writing, self-expression and belonging, collaborating on activities, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Continue in the MET program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Throughout this course I have been inspired and excited by the tools I have been able to use and try, and by tools used by others. Here is a list of what I am intending to work on next year:<\/p>\n<p>Wikis: pro-d (to share goals, wish-lists, and responses to pro-d), field trip responses, study guides, book lists<\/p>\n<p>Moodle: for Social Responsibility learning outcomes, using the Moodle I developed in this course<\/p>\n<p>Social Media: <a title=\"Thesaurus the wordy dragon\" href=\"http:\/\/storybird.com\/books\/thesaurus-the-wordy-dragon-by-anderson-e-andrews-t\/\" target=\"_blank\">Storybird<\/a> for writing and social responsibility, sock puppets for concept review in Science and Socials, <a title=\"Ipad expectations \" href=\"http:\/\/animoto.com\/play\/6WxaqFfgHtYwf8IqsdZ9Yg\" target=\"_blank\">Animoto<\/a> for beginning the year with introductions, <a title=\"Kerpoof \" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/55457339@N02\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kerpoof<\/a> for lesson plans in tall tales\/fairy tales, <a title=\"This is not a love story\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vuvox.com\/collage\/detail\/06cb3075ef\" target=\"_blank\">Vuvox<\/a> for photo collages, Animoto for presentations, <a title=\"Underground Railroad\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zooburst.com\/zb_books-viewer.php?book=zb04_51f2a8e529fd0\" target=\"_blank\">Zooburst<\/a> for introducing popups and presentation choices, <a title=\"GoAnimate discussion of BYOD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hLEj42yFIkA\" target=\"_blank\">goanimate<\/a> for creating dialogue about a concept. <a title=\"Seoul\" href=\"https:\/\/connect.ubc.ca\/webapps\/portal\/frameset.jsp?tab_tab_group_id=_2_1&amp;url=%2Fwebapps%2Fblackboard%2Fexecute%2Flauncher%3Ftype%3DCourse%26id%3D_22817_1%26url%3D\" target=\"_blank\">Photopeach<\/a> for students who go on vacations during the year, and as a way to introduce themselves to build community at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My plans for the coming year in terms of utilizing skills and knowledge from this course are as follows: Consider and refer to the SECTIONS model when deciding when and if to use technology for particular pedagogical purposes.
