Sellers in spots retain less than sellers who operate outside of spots, so why would any sellers be willing to work in spots? A simple hypothesis is that sellers in spots benefit from greater support services, such as lookouts, runners, doorkeepers, a physical location, etc., that reduce the sellers’ risk of arrest, robbery, or injury. Writer’s Text:
In his essay “Drug Dealers”, Caulkins describes the “localization” of certain areas of the city for drug use as a major problem leading to the augmented organization of drug dealers in Vancouver (Caulkins 326).
Writer’s comment:
I used quotations because it is a word he used. He uses “localization” in a text about certain areas for drug use. I figure that this was his word, like nobody else would use it in that context, so I put it in quotes.
