week 5 update

On Feb 15 2012, we went  through the group reflections of our questionnaire, and edited the initial draft, that summarizes the pros and cons regarding the course format.  During the week, we indiviually met up with team representatives in order to achieve an in-depth perspective concerning the course. The questions we asked were determined by analyzing the data from the individual questionnaire, and determining what aspects required elaboration. After analyzing our feedback, we have found that students are  generally satisfied with the course and there are a few minor issues that we feel can be easily improved.  As a group we brainstormed possible solutions as to how we can made the CSL project more effective.

We had a meeting with our client. We assessed the progress and determined what we can improve in our final report. We realized that a better format and headings are important for readers to read the report. We finally got a work list, things we need to complete before heading in our final copy, and distributed the work load efficiently and effectively. We in hope to submit our final report by next friday.

Week 4 Update

On Monday February 6th, we distributed the questionnaire to students. As we had expected, most students were very cooperative, which was very helpful to our project. After a quick review on the questionnaires, we were happy to find that we obtained sufficient information from students. We were in fact feeling very excited to compile all the data, and analyze them. We split the questionnaires between three of us, so we could efficiently start compiling the data on excel. Then, we would pass the compiled data by the three members, to another member, so he could put them together and come up with a summarized data set. A sample of compiled data is attached below.

Reviewing our partially compiled data, we have already detected some patterns among students’ responses. For example, many groups think that the given time for completion is an issue in their projects. Our report will be based on these patterns, and we expect to start writing the first draft of our report in the next couple of days.

Week 3 Update

We as the CLI Integration team are hoping to monitor the CIVL 202 CSL projects as a whole. More specifically, we as a team want to transform positive and negative feed back received, from the students in this class, into a report that can compare and contrast aspects of the CSL projects. We are also hoping this report will highlight key areas that could use a possible improvement for the next time this class is run. 

The vehicle that we as a team are planning to implement in order to receive feed back from the class, will be a class wide questionnaire. As previously mentioned in the last blog team update, the questionnaire will involve questions that hopefully provoke answers to key information points we are wanting to include in our report. As well as using the questionnaire, we are also wanting to meet individually with each team and evaluate their teams progress, successes, and challenges; on a more personal level.

This week we are preparing the final draft of our questionnaire that we will be forwarding to Dr. Nesbit in hopes that we can have enough copies for every student to fill it out on Monday, February 6th; during the first portion of the Civil 202 class. It is important that the questionnaire be filled out, and handed back in to us on the 6th; just so we have time to evaluate the data and see if implementing the next stage of data collection is necessary.  This next stage of data collection would only be implemented if we as a team decided that the data collected from the questionnaires is insufficient. If this is the case, each of us would set up a time to meet with our four groups with intentions to ask them some specific questions creating a friendly envioment open to discussion in hopes to round out the total collection of data for our report.
