John-Tyler Binfet, <\/strong>PhD, is an associate professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan), where he is the director of the Building Academic Retention through K9s program\u00a0(B.A.R.K.<\/a>). Founded in 2012, B.A.R.K. routinely sees 60+ therapy dogs brought to campus to support students\u2019 stress reduction and overall well-being. He also investigates kindness in schools, including how children, adolescents, and teachers understand what it means to be kind within a school context.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Kjellstrand Hartwig, <\/strong>PhD, LPC-S, LMFT, RPT-S,\u00a0<\/strong>is an associate professor in the Professional Counseling Program at Texas State University. She is the founder and director of the Texas State University Animal-Assisted Counselling Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n
