She has been researching what it means for educators to grow their professional and personal potential toward flourishing at work. She has examined how teacher wellbeing contributes to building positive school experiences and the role of leadership in cultivating positive workspaces. In recognition of her innovative research, Cherkowski received UBC Okanagan\u2019s 2020 Researcher of the Year award for Social Sciences and Humanities in 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Kelly Hanson<\/strong> is a PhD student and Faculty Advisor (2017-2019) in the Okanagan School of Education at the University of British Columbia. Her research explores innovative ways that educators can support each other to develop their teaching practices. As part of her research into teaching and mindfulness, Hanson co-initiated a professional teachers\u2019 group two years ago with colleagues at Rutland Middle School.
