This evolution fostered the start of on-demand media streaming company <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/signup.netflix.com\/home?autoRedirected=1&amp;country=3&amp;rdirfdc=true\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Netflix<\/span><\/a><\/span>. However, Netflix has been <span style=\"color: #339966;\">beaten down on its shares and popularity<\/span> in the past few months, as mentioned in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/arminrezaieanasel\/2011\/09\/21\/netflixs-consumer-confusion\/#content\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Armin Rezaiean-asel&#8217;s<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0blog post<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I completely agree with Armin&#8217;s point of <span style=\"color: #008000;\">benefits vs features<\/span>. However, he missed some important elements as to why Netflix is going downhill.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix has been trying to incorporate way<span style=\"color: #005700;\"> too many different new services and changes<\/span> into the company. From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/globe-investor\/netflixs-higher-prices-lead-to-fewer-customers\/article2167137\/\">price hikes<\/a>\u00a0to <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-17938_105-20108593-1\/look-out-netflix-dish-set-to-unveil-blockbuster-streaming-details-friday\/\">failed collaborations<\/a>\u00a0with other companies such as Blockbuster (Dish Network) and new services such as<a href=\"http:\/\/adage.com\/article\/news\/netflix-facebook-ignore-consumer-gripes-make\/230032\/\"> DVD by-mail with Qwikister<\/a>\u00a0, Netflix has evidently dropped the ball. With so many close substitutions to their service, even the slightest increase in price or unpopular alteration will cause a great drop in total revenue (assuming other factors remain constant).\u00a0\u00a0Did the company forget about their customers? Did <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-1023_3-20108055-93\/netflix-ceo-i-slid-into-arrogance\/\">arrogance cloud the CEO&#8217;s judgments<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>The core reason why Netflix is so desperately in need of a good fix is because it&#8217;s changing too much and too fast, as<span style=\"color: #808000;\"> Netflix&#8217;s CEO Reed Hastings said &#8220;it is possible we are moving too fast&#8221;<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Netflix CEO Reed Hastings promoting DVD by-mail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.siliconbeat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/reed_hastings_netflix.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Netflix CEO Reed Hastings promoting DVD by-mail services<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As technology improves, consumers shift from renting VHS movies at the corner store to downloading movies online.
