Ueli Albert CHPC, Kin Bsc. 

Ueli is originally from Switzerland and moved to Canada In 2004 after meeting his future Canadian wife while training at the IOC high performance training centre in Kenya.

As an athlete, Ueli competed for the Swiss National Team between 2000 and 2008 in the 800m, and represented Switzerland at multiple international Events. Ueli also competed in the CIS track and field championships running for Dalhousie University and was the CIS champion for the 1000m in 2006.

Ueli’s coaching career started in Switzerland at his local track club coaching youth athletes for the middle distance races. His para-coaching career started while attending Dalhousie University after being approached by an athlete who uses a wheelchair and wanted to participate in the Bluenose marathon.

This led to an appointment as the Canada Games Coach in 2009 where Ueli coached the very first wheelchair racing Team for Nova Scotia. His performance at the games led to a position with the Canadian Para Athletics National Team in 2010.

Ueli was the Canadian National Team Coach for wheelchair racing between 2010 and 2014. Over the last the 7 years Ueli has traveled all over the world and worked with world record holders and Paralympic Champions.

Currently, Ueli personally coaches 3 national team members in Para Athletics based out of the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, along with other very promising Next-Gen Athletes.

Ueli’s passion for sport and the development of Para Athletes has inspired many other coaches to get involved with Para Athletics and he is regarded as one of the leaders of Para Athletics in Atlantic Canada.
