General / Habitat
- Common moss in lowland coastal rainforests
- Often forms loose mats on logs, tree bases, rocks, or humus
Key Identifying Characteristics
- Oregon beaked moss is light green to dark green to yellow green in color
- It has regularly pinnately branching with the branches forming a single horizontal plant
- The stem leaves are heart-shaped and sharply pointed
- The sporophytes are infrequent, but may be locally abundant
- The setae are rough in texture
