I am 23 years old. I am taking this course because I am really interested in English. I am working and studying at the same time. I came to Vancouver after I graduated from high school and I really love the city. Gastown is my favorite place in Vancouver and I also enjoy the coffee in town. My best friend worked in a coffee shop from Gastown and introduce me to the city when I first got here. This is why Gastown is my favorite place in Vancouver.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sommertage.com\/en\/the-best-cafes-and-coffee-shops-in-vancouver-breakfast-brunch\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are some of the best cafes in Vancouver.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This course focuses on Indigenous and European stories about being in Canada and what it means to be Canadian. It also explores what are the values of being Canadian, as told through literature, and asks who gets to decide what is considered Canadian. I came from Asia so it is interesting for me to get to know the core of being Canadian and how the city is shaped through storytelling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada has become my favorite country so I want to know the history about it and explore more about it. In the past years I have learned part of the history of the Indigenous people in Canada and I am excited to learn more about it in this course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I believe that this is an interesting course that could help me learn more about Canada. Also when I visit different cities in Canada I can link the places and the history and understand the background of the places.
