Monosodium glutamate, MSG is discovered to be called a silent killer that is worse for you health than alcohol, nicotine, and many drugs. It is approximately made of 78 percent free glutamic acid, 21 percent sodium, and up to 1 percent contaminants which is added to thousands of the food we eat. Today, MSG is more than just a seasoning like salt and pepper that enhances the taste of foods and silently damages to our health.
The purpose of laboratory studies on monosodium glutamate, MSG, was to obtain some knowledge of what is MSG and why it is bad to our health among majority of people who regularly intake MSG at home or restaurants. After the continuing laboratory studies, many neurological diseases and heart diseases have been introduced from eating MSG.
In 1959, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA labeled MSG as “Generally Recognized as Safe.” However, over-dose of monosodium glutamate introduced a condition known as “MSG Symptom Complex” to the medical literature and numerous side effects have been shown; for example, numbness to heart palpitations.” In addition, Russell Blaylock, a board-certified neurosurgeon, had the experiment on injecting glutamate in laboratory. The study showed that animals with injected glutamate have resulted in damage to nerve cells in their brain.
In result, he explained MSG as an excitotoxin which excites cells to the point of damage or death, causing brain damage such as learning disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Lou Gehrig’s disease. According to Dr. Blaylock, numerous glutamate receptors have been found both within the heart’s electrical conduction system and the heart muscle. Therefore, this can damage to your heart, and possibly cause sudden deaths. Many other adverse illness also can be occurred as a result of regular consumption of MSG; for instance, obesity ,eye damage, headaches , fatigue and disorientation, and depression.
The main concern i personally think is the food industry constantly compete for consumers; thus, they make their food taste better than competitors by adding more of MSG to it. So, the amount of MSG that is being added to our food today has become far too concentrated for our nerves to handle properly and our nerve impulses over-excite to damage our neurons, to cause neurological diseases and a person to lose control of their emotions. I like to conclude the blog with the video by Vincent Bellonzi, a certified clinical nutritionist and has made the study nutrition, talks about how glutamate process in the body and what it does to our body.
