2011-2013: Guest Lecturer (University Medical Center St. Radboud, Nijmegen, Netherlands)

Providing annual guest lectures as a part of the Erasmus Mundus Masters of Bioethics on social and ethical aspects of human genomics and medical technologies to health professionals from around the world.

 

2009-2010: Teaching Associate (Department of Sociology, UBC)

Taught Sociology 361 ‘Studies in Social Inequality’ alongside Prof. S. Fuller. Involved giving undergraduate lectures, leading discussion groups, reading, commenting on and grading papers and exams, and advising 60+ students.

 

2008-2010: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Centre for Applied Ethics, UBC)

Lead researcher on Genome Canada and BC projects examining factors constrainting and enabling translational science. Conducted qualitative research and data analysis in Atlas t/I; writing and presenting reports, commentaries and articles; giving presentations, collaborative work with scientists.

 

2005-2008:Research Fellow (Science & Tech Studies Unit, University of York, UK)

Included developing research projects on pharmacogenetics, biobanking, human genome epidemiology using qualitative research, managing data via

Atlas t/i, writing academic papers, presenting individual & team research.

 

2005-2007: Course Facilitator (Dept. of Sociology, University of York, UK)

Leading undergraduate seminars in classical & modern sociological theory,

globalization & social science research methods.

 

2001-2004: Teaching English as a foreign language (ACLE, Italy and Taiwan)

Obtained TEFL certification and taught English to adults, teenagers, and children in class sizes ranging from one to twenty-five in Taichung, Taiwan and across Italy.
