This assignment introduced me to many new areas of learning, and therefore I found it to be not only challenging but very interesting. I always felt a sense of accomplishment whenever I mastered an aspect of the MOODLE LMS. When I was to create the splashing page at first, for example, it seemed like an almost insurmountable task because I did not understand how to do it. When I thought I had grasped the procedure for creating splashing pages, I felt proud of my accomplishment. However, after that, I still experienced the challenge of creating more than one links on a page. I started by hyperlinking the various icons in different pages of MOODLE and copying and pasting them to the required page. This proved to be time consuming and tedious. I later found out that I should change my internet explorer 8 to internet explorer 7 so as to create more than one links to a particular page. After I learnt how to create the splashing pages via the use of hyperlink, I felt as if I could leap for joy.
The assignment has also been a time consuming one. It was the first time that I was creating a course on a LMS of this magnitude. Therefore I had to do constant research tasks on areas that were unclear to me. Although, I was introduced to MOODLE approximately four years ago, this assignment took a considerable amount of time to upload pictures and documents and to create splashing pages. However the excitement of accomplishing each new task always rewarded me for the limited amount of sleep and sleepless nights that completing the various tasks required.
There were times also that I experienced the fear of not completing the assignment on time. I contemplated on more than one occasions asking for an extension when I saw the volume of work that had yet to complete.. However, at each juncture, I motivated myself with the thought that I was closer to the end than when I first started. As a result I did not give up and I am pleased with the work I have put into this assignment.
I am overwhelmed by the amount knowledge I have gained from this assignment. It will be very useful to me in the future. I have proven that the use of the constructivist approach definitely helps learners to acquire knowledge which is more meaningful and lasting.
This LMS course is designed for the Bachelor of Education in Mathematics programme at the teachers’ colleges in Jamaica. Mechanics has proven to be a difficult course to students over the years. Though this course students should be able to master the concepts of mechanics which will be delivered in a blended approach. This course consists of several self-directed activities which is enriched with adequate and appropriate technology that will improve students mastery of mechanics. I was able to complete three modules that should be useful to students.
