Immune system B4 explain the functioning of the immune system, and the roles of the primary, secondary, and tertiary defence systems- describe primary and secondary lines of defence

– describe how pathogens are transmitted

Pathogen transmission activity. Each student receives a cup with water in it but one student’s cup is a sodium hydroxide solution. Students mix their liquid into someone else’s cup and then pour half back into their own cup and record the transaction. At end, phenolphthalein is used as an indicator to see who is infected.Worksheet related to activity. Computers Monitoring research progress of students.

Factors affecting the immune system B4 explain the functioning of the immune system, and the roles of the primary, secondary, and tertiary defence systems- describe disorders of the immune system and how they are treated Students present immune system disorders researched previous class. During classmates’ presentations, students write something they learned about the presentation and something they would like to know more about it. Assessing content of research presentations.
