Is different from other culicids from Pitilla by having the dorsal surface of segment VIII sclerotized, though this is not evident in the early stages. Its siphon has a pair of setae on the ventral side. In life, the coloration is orange to reddish. We identified one species with molecular species delimitation – three individuals sequenced.
