This species was found in only one bromeliad, in which around 45 individuals were found. Other sciarids from Pitilla’s bromeliad don’t appear to be so abundant. Their body size ranged from  4  to 9 mm. They are morphologically very similar to Sciaridae sp. [tip] – BIBS03, though Sciaridae sp. [stick] – BIBS01 seem to have a thicker body, their creeping wells are less prominent, and they are less flexible in their movements.
