They could be confused with early instars of Chironominae spp. [long tubercles] (Polypedilum sp. A or Chironomus sp. A in previous name system) to the naked eye. Its prolegs are more prominent than in Chironominae spp. [long tubercles], and their live coloration is light orange with bright yellow sections.
Only one 3 mm individual was sequenced, and two were recorded. The barcoding region is similar to many Tanytarsus, but a deeper taxonomic revision is needed to confirm its identity.
