Logistics

When: The course sessions will be held on Mondays 2 PM – 5 PM. See the course calendar for specific dates of the classes.

The first class will be at 2 PM on September 10, 2018.

Where: “DFP room”, i.e., room 2300 in Forestry building (2424 Main Mall).

Announcements: All non-urgent announcements for the course are made in the class. Urgent announcements are sent to the e-mail addresses that the students provided to the UBC registration system.

Learning Objectives

On the completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:

  1. Orient themselves in the area of usable privacy and security (UPS),
  2. Analyze and critique UPS research,
  3. Reason about design of communication, computer, electronics, and information systems in the context of UPS,
  4. Write research papers on the subject of UPS,
  5. Present their work and comment on others’ work to peers.
