{"id":67,"date":"2010-02-07T06:57:46","date_gmt":"2010-02-07T14:57:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cteachr565b\/?p=67"},"modified":"2010-02-07T06:57:46","modified_gmt":"2010-02-07T14:57:46","slug":"adventures-with-moodle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/cteachr565b\/2010\/02\/07\/adventures-with-moodle\/","title":{"rendered":"Adventures with Moodle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I started the Moodle toolkit assignment last night.\u00a0 Actually, I logged into the Moodle site and created a course.\u00a0 Then this morning, I read the actual instructions (I had forgotten about the Moodle toolkit) and realized I hadn&#8217;t named my course properly.\u00a0 A little searching later, I managed to make the necessary changes.<\/p>\n<p>I did the rest of the assignment, created a welcome page and a discussion forum.\u00a0 I even added a reply.<\/p>\n<p>So far, I can contrast Moodle to Blackboard in that it has a lot more icons\u00a0 than Blackboard did when I was using it about 8 yrs ago.\u00a0 The WYSIWYG editor is more sophisticated by far.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think Blackboard really had an editor.\u00a0 If we wanted coloured text, we had to create it in MSWord and copy and paste it into Blackboard.<\/p>\n<p>Moodle has a complicated display page so far.\u00a0 Maybe once I&#8217;ve had a chance to create more content, it will start to look familiar.\u00a0 I like simplicity and an appearance that is intuitive.\u00a0 I want to explore how to insert slide shows, images and include a wiki next.\u00a0 So far, it took less than an hour to follow the assignment as described.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I started the Moodle toolkit assignment last night.\u00a0 Actually, I logged into the Moodle site and created a course.\u00a0 Then this morning, I read the actual instructions (I had forgotten about the Moodle toolkit) and realized I hadn&#8217;t named my course properly.\u00a0 A little searching later, I managed to make the necessary changes.
