About Culturepedia

The Culturepedia project was started by the Office of Learning Technology as a part of the Accessibility project in 2008. Culturepedia provides resources to students who come to UBC with different cultural backgrounds. The main purpose of this resource is to make education and its surroundings more accessible to UBC students, particularly for those from different backgrounds.  Culturepedia will be a place where students get to know idioms, expressions, proverbs, gestures, and humours used in North America, as well as related research and articles.  The site is also to serve as a community where students can share their cultural experiences and activities, including their cultural shocks.

We encourage our colleagues, instructors and students to contribute to this resource and add to its different databases.  We would appreciate your feedback and support on this ongoing project.
