Thought 3: The Underdogs of “The Underdogs”

Hi Everyone,

This week I wanted to talk about some characters in The Underdogs, mainly Demetrio, Blondie, Luis Cervantes, and Solis. Some themes are destruction, chaos, psychology, passion, education, and philosophy.

Hope you enjoy!

Question: Why do you think Demetrio is unable to break from the ‘revolutionary bandit’ lifestyle? Are there any clues to this answer in the text? I’m really interested in seeing what you have to say!

See you next week 🙂

  1. (Curtis, I still so love these video blogs! You do a great job with them!)

I wonder if what the book tells us that the psychology of these character is complex or interesting, or if the point is that psychology doesn’t really explain things… that they are part of something much bigger than themselves?

    • Intersting Jon… I’ll have to think about that… Maybe there is something within Demetrio, or within someone in general, a passion, that cannot be explained/intellectualized.

      Thanks for the thought!
