The Final Post: Reflection on Assignment

The Comm296 class was the most valuable and pleasure course whih enrich my abilities in multi-ways, such as in-class activities, group work assignments and reading textbook as well. Throuhgout this semester, i got not only friends but also experiences. My group is a diverse culture one which means we have to communicate more carefully. The first assignment, we did not do   that  well because we did not recongize the evaluation form on Vista, but we did well on the Assignment 2. My group members were active and open to meet and talk. As the last assignment would be the most difficult one to us. Two of us were not in Vancouver during the long weekend. Although we have 3 meetings before that and already filmed for a whole afternoon, editing was hard.  Because  we  did not  have any filming experience before, it was hard to film that great.  We  got into the screen while was writing  out the  key points  on  the blackboard.  As well as the creative part, our assingment seemed too straight forward. We decided to meet again and refilm it. I came up with the idea to take pictures and make them as slides in the video instead of filming while writing. However, we gave up this idea because it was not creative enough. There were many arguments and conficts during the working but they were worth. At the end we finally made our video! It was so excited. I would recommon my group as the best! I learned how to communicate with other in a proper way to convey my ideas and how to corporate with team members effiecitly. Thanks for my group and Tamar! I hope i can be more creative and talk more in the group meeting.

This  class and assignment are very important for me to apply marketing knowledge  which have been taught in class by Tamar.  I’m so  glad i spent time in Marketing. Now i am thinking to choose Marketing as my majoy!

loyalty for phone keyboard?

What is RIM means for Canadians?  I would say a matter of national pride for Canadians! Although I am not a Canadian, I love Blackberry and cannot live without my Torch 9800. As most blackberry loyalty users do, the attractive thing to me is the unique physical keyboard that Blackberry has. When the Research In Motion (RIM) launched two BlackBerry 10 smartphones (the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10) in order to bank on the hotly anticipated line of devices to save the company, i cannot be more excited. As a keyboard lover which means keyboard brings me the sense of belonging and safety. Although the Q10 will be available in April, it is worth for me to wait for that.

What is new Blackberry?

Today, technology is way more important than anything else. Everyone is checking with their phones at anytime. As Apple’ s touch screen becomes popular and almost take over the marketplace, Blackberry has to create the impression to show  that it can compete against other smartphone in market.

The BlackBerry has use the value-based marketing era which gives customers greater value than its competitors do and focus on long-term relationship with customers.

Could you separate your business life and personal life? Do not want to mix things together?

Here the BlackBerry Balance  allow you to switch between work and personal user accounts within one cell phone. You can have different apps on work and personal accounts which can keep the unused side locked down and kept data safe.

Want to save your time on text or you are a spelling trouble?

The new predictive text in 3 languages help you out!  You can choose the language to use and then the function would provide a series of logical possible options of words rather than just simple remember used list.

To be honest, BlackBerry 10 series may not attract too many new customers. The most interested customer group would be the loyalty fans. I believe the key part to stay with BlackBerry is the physical keyboard of it. The keyboard is hard for new users to adapt and get used of it. However, many people have complained that they miss the feeling of tapping on the physical keyboard.  BlackBerry can use production-oriented era to sell the unique physical keyboard.

GOVision UBC

 头像相册

While running GOVision UBC as a new club with my friends we have faced many problems.

First of all, we have to position ourselves. “What is GOVision? How could we stand out?” ,

the questions came up mind. For the question, “what is”, it is easy to answer. Because

our headquarter is in Toronto with satellite offices in Beijing, Boston, Washington D.C,

and New York City. There are 6,000 GOVision members in 42 different Universities.

Our mission is clear, building a platform of communication and information exchange for

international students through connecting them with each other and their local communities.

Therefore, our problem is how could we stand out among other clubs in UBC. In this case,

we have to define our target market , Chinese international students. International

students who are studying outside of their own country have been more than 3.43 million

and 32% of them are Chinese international students. We are here to benefit Chinese international

students that link them with local community.

  东方环球视野 GOVision

As long as we slove the two questions above, we are trying to understand Chinese students’ needs and wants. We did primary data

randomly to UBC Chinese students, asked them about the plan after graduation; the most difficult thing they have been faced; the

expectations about GOVision. Throughout the information we collected, we will provide volunteer opportunities, international

conferences, online supports, regional events to our members. The most excited thing is our summer internal working opportunity.

We presents our members with Direct Internship Program to work in Beijing Hilton Hotel headquarter between May and August of

2013. Only one candidate will be selected through us and then be telephone interviewed directly by the Hilton Hotel headquarter.

  东方环球视野 GOVision

To promote our club, we have already have some home pages on social network, such as Facebook, Weibo. Next we will held student

orientation for students to learn more about our club and sign up to be our members on March 18th 2013. Although our target market

is Chinese international students, all UBC students are welcome to join us! Our sign-up fee is $10 for each or if you bring a friend to join

us on our orientation, our fee will be lowered to $10 for 2 people!

Can not wait for the student orientation! If you are interested in our club and program, please visit our website or come to our

orientation!

 东方环球视野 GOVision

Please go to our student orientation event page for a mandatory sign-up form!

Reflection on Shelley McQuade’s “Playing Chicken with your Customers”

Shelley McQuade’s blog is talking about the importance of easy finding and

payment of products through two cases. I agreed with her that simple

improvements would keep customers buy the product and also be loyalty to

the purchasing.

QQ截图20130228002646

All people know that the customer is king or god. As successful marketers, we

need to satisfy customer needs and wants. When customers have the interest

and ability to buy the product, we need a good place to deliver the value.

Locations are very important. A good location or well-marked place which

save the customers’ time and pull them back after purchasing.

shopping46_460

As the cases present, no matter it is online or in store shopping, the customers

desire to seek good quality product in a quick and easy way. With my personal

experience, I am not a patient customer at all. Whenever i went to

supermarket, i would directly go the shelves which have the things i need. If

the supermarket has changed something’s position and i cannot see it directly,

i would just go for next. As a result, i would never come back to this

supermarket for that specific products. Today we have to use value-based

marketing era to give customers greater value than competitors to get the

market share. In a way to improve customers’ good feelings about shopping

experience which increase the revenue of the business as well.

Offshoring makes the “puzzle” prefect

Reflection on Shirley Zhou’s “ Iphones Designed in California, But Assembled in China”.

Working_Together_Teamwork_and-team-building-exercises

I agree with Shirley’s post which states the truth of the phenomenon which designing and assembling products from different

countries. Not only IPhones but also other industrial products, most of them were made in China, Philippines and Indonesia. Shirley

has already clearly explained the reasons of the labour shortage in most developed countries and cheaper and surplus labour in

developing countries.

Offshoring-vs.-Reshoring-the-Business-Perspective

According to the textbook, globalization of production takes advantage of national differences in the cost and quality of various

factors of production, such as labor, energy, land and capital. However, not all offshorings are about labor price. For example, IBM

does global hunt for talent so that it can reduce costs.

I do not think this phenomenon is not good. It fills different needs to different countries which links the countries together. As Shirley

stated, the multinational manufacturing makes advantage of labour surplus in developing countries which add more value to their

economy, and also helps developed countries as well. It benefits both side, why not do that?
