Teacher Attitude

As a teacher, I always need to attend to my emotional self in my practice. This week was a very busy week for me in school and out and I really started to feel it. With the stress of trying to get multiple projects done and not exactly being confident in how to do them I was falling behind. This stress started to wear on me and I have been extremely tired. My tiredness and stress was effecting me and it effected me on Thursday while in practicum. I think that it effected my teaching because I wasn’t completely focused on the tasks of the day, instead I was preoccupied with thinking about my lesson plans I needed to work on and whether I was doing them correct or not. I was also extremely tired which was effecting my concentration. Just like bumpy moments talked about, my emotional self was having an effect on my teaching. After reflecting on this I see the importance of emotional self-inquiry.

  1. It is true that all of us can get overwhelmed at times with what our lives hold. It is good to reflect on how we are feeling, not critically, but with acceptance, and often that will allow us to understand and care for ourselves enough to get through it unscathed. Being able to step back and really hear what our inside selves are saying and the messages we are receiving from ourselves is critical to self acceptance and understanding, as well as our own self regulation.
