Today I taught an SEL read aloud lesson. I think that this lesson went well, I was happy with my reading ability to keep the students engaged in the story. I really felt that putting the sticky notes in the book helped me to remember what question to ask and when. I forgot to go over the critical vocabulary before I started reading but I remembered as soon as I read the first page so I made sure to work it in then. I tried really hard to encourage the students ideas and positively reinforce them. One thing I learned from this lesson is things go faster than what I expected them to. This was ok though as I was prepared for the second part of the lesson so we went on to that. This showed me how important it is to have things planned and prepared as a back up. Another thing I learnt from this lesson, that I never really thought much of, is to have something planned for students to do while I was getting other students ready to paint. The next lesson I do I will include a plan for this in my lesson.

  1. The lesson did go well and as you refine your teaching practice, the things you missed this time will become common practice for you!
