Hello and welcome to my teaching blog!
My name is DH Kim or you can call me Ms.Kim. I’m from South Korea, but I moved to Vietnam when I was 10 and grew up there until I graduated high school. I moved to Canada, Vancouver for my bachelor’s degree in University of British Columbia and received B.A. in History major and Psychology minor. Right now, I’m a teacher candidate who studies in UBC Bachelor’s of Education: IB Primary Years Program cohort.
So to briefly talk about myself, I consider myself to be a person who is very enthusiastic and outgoing. I’m very approachable and love to meet and hang out with new people especially by chatting about all sorts of stuffs such as sharing my life story and my own culture, food and more.
My ultimate goal is to become an elementary teacher, especially in international school. I grew up going to IB international school starting from PYP all the way up to DP. There’s a term called third-culture kid which means people who were raised in a country outside of their parents’ culture. I consider myself to be a third-culture kid and I’ve always wanted to share the story about my own unique cultural background and also hear stories of the others. Becoming a teacher is a wonderful chance for me to teach students from different race, culture and backgrounds using the international backgrounds that I have experienced throughout my life.
My hobby is singing, where I usually sing a song while playing a guitar or piano.
Also, I love to travel around the countries and explore their local food. I’m really fan of trying out all bunch of food, especially if the food is from a place or a country where I’ve never been to.
In this blog, you will get to see and explore my teaching career throughout the year! Welcome and feel free to comment on any posts in this blog! 🙂
