Social Enterprise Works Wonders

Social enterprise would still be necessary despite a fully funded United Nations. Although the United Nations is a phenomenal organization that combats world issues, sometimes more is necessary. In impoverish countries; such as those that Arc partners with, education on sustainable development is required. It is not possible for the UN to oversee small villages with dedication that is required, when there are so many pressing issues to deal with. No amount of money can replace the knowledge that is necessary for developing countries to continue their successes even after aid leaves them. This is where social enterprise comes in.

The Arc initiative developed by Sauder is a social enterprise that aims to develop sustainable business management in less developed countries such as Rawanda. Even though non-profits donate to these countries, the government is unaware how to allocate the funds. Therefore the help of these organizations can be redundant when the donations are used poorly. Sauder alumni, faculty and students facilitate in the education of these skills. Social entrepreneurs know what is required of a business to maximize efficiency and positive social effects for the entire community. In order to help countries break out of the continuous cycle of debt they are in, a strategic education and knowledge is required, which is something that is offered by social enterprise.
