About me

Hi! My name is Marjolein (Marie) Toorians, and I am a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia. My interests are in population and disease ecology, particularly in tropical biology. I have a keen passion for travelling as well as research. I finished my undergraduate at the University of Amsterdam, after which I did my MSc at the University of York (UK) where I wrote a thesis on sea lice dynamics at salmon farms in West-Scotland at the Scottish Association of Marine Sciences (SAMS). I currently live in Vancouver, BC where I study the disease dynamics of bovine Tuberculosis in a collaboration with the University of Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park, South Africa.

My published work can be found on my Scholar profile.
