Todd Rogers Award

I have received notice that I have been selected to receive the 2013 Todd Rogers Research Award from the Canadian Educational Researchers’ Association for leadership in evidence based research. The ceremony will take place on June 3rd at the University of Victoria during the association’s annual general meeting.

  1. Doctor Todd Rogers,
You probably remember my name: David Barnett, because a professor’ worst nightmare is a smart ass in his or her class. Way back, out of the stats lab with Lewis Vargas. I thought at the time I was adding levity to a great lecture class. You had to take me aside and tell me I was a pain for the other students, a distraction. Now I understand how much I spoiled your class for you, because we all focus on the negativity. It may please you to know how much I in turn suffered from my actions. I really liked you, and was so sorry for whatever pain I caused you. It may help you to understand that I was subsequently diagnosed as BP2. I also suffer from treatment resistant depression. All this is for you. I want you I thought you were a good man, period! By revealing my pain, I hope to give you the gift of saying, ‘Hah, I’m glad that bastard suffered.’
