Wake-up Call

On October 19th after leading a workshop on technology for teachers, I must admit I felt a bit smug about my relationship with technology. And then I watched An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube. I was completely blown away. Thank you DLG 5 for including it. I decided to respond to the question:

Is educational technology inherently promoting causes that are keeping others behind?

Yes…I think it might be me!

Enjoy the video and then check out my full response under ETEC 511.

Exploring Technology for Primary Teachers

School District 61 (Greater Victoria) had a professional development day on October 19, 2012. I led a workshop on technology. 25 teachers visited my Kindergarten classroom. We discussed and shared ways that technology can be integrated into teaching and learning. I shared a lot of examples from my class and was really impressed by the teachers’ willingness to engage and to make plans for technology in their own classrooms. Networking with other teachers and setting up a shared file for ideas and lesson materials was a highlight for me. It was a informative and fun morning! Check out my projects page to see our agenda.

In prepping the workshop, I found these videos helpful and thought I would share the links. Enjoy!

Getting Braver

I am working to make this space more personal while keeping it professional. I thought I’d start by using my own images. Photography is a developing hobby so I’ll take and use my own images when I need them. I started with the new banner: a fall spider’s web at Butchart Gardens.

The Next Step

Well I have been playing around with my blog and I like the format. Easy to post and organize information. Now that the site is running, I have changed my format for posting information about ETEC 511. I have done things historically for the first four modules but module five represents a change. I’ll see how it goes.
