The Wildlife Society

My time in TWS from 2020-2021 was the first time I made social media posts for a club/organization, so it was an opportunity to hone my skills. By the time it was the end of my term as Media Comms Coordinator, I had improved significantly.

Before my term as Webmaster, I spent the summer revamping the website into a more visually pleasing and accessible resource, which was well received by my team, club members and other chapters.

Unfold

In a multi-disciplinary summer course: Art and Writing in the Pandemic Era, I used Unfold to combine writing and art with poetry and photography when creatively expressing my experience in the pandemic. I strongly believe that language is more than just words and visuals. Together, they move beyond their intended purpose and create a one-of-a-kind meaning for the individual who utilizes them. The flexibility of the mediums allowed me to hone my skills and find new ways of expression.

I designed a logo for #StopTheShock— a movement against the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Massachusetts using Gradual Electronic Decelerators (GED) to punish people with intellectual and mental health disabilities. With such a specific cause, the design must also be as specific, yet not too complicated. I included the rainbow infinity symbol to represent the neurodivergent people in the JRC. Surrounding it is a dull shock band that induces electric shocks, along with an “electrifying” stop sign. While the many elements seem overwhelming, all these in one visually captivating logo is required in order for people to understand what it is for. 

Visual Communication

The works shown here were for a Strategies in Digital Art class I took in 2021 which focused on brand identity.

(Right) I created a brand called hugtistic to help autistic and neurodivergent (ND) people of all marginalized backgrounds to feel safe in their own bodies and skin. I designed various logos, one of which I animated, as well as touch points (products, merchandise and swag) that I felt would either fulfil a collecting need or sensory purpose such as: buttons/pins, embossed planner with productivity reward gimmicks, and pop sockets.

Logos were made in Illustrator; Product mockups were made in Photoshop; Animated logo was made in After Effects.
