small steps

“I may not  be where I want to be, but I’m better than I was yesterday”

Over the past two weeks one thing has stood out for me more than anything else. The importance of patience and trusting the process. As young educators it is easy to become frustrated when something is not going the way we hoped, a lesson just doesn’t work. But I believe that if we keep taking the right steps (however small they may be) that we will eventually get to the destination we are aiming for. This is also true of our students – they take their steps at different paces and at different lengths but eventually they will get to a place – we just need to be comfortable with facilitating the process that gets them there. This is true of all of our undertakings, a few small steps do make a difference and I hope we can all engage with this idea next time we are feeling frustrated, or fearful that we are not where we want to be.
