class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:20px\">The <strong>Earth Science Experiential and Indigenous Learning <\/strong>initiative, or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tlef.ubc.ca\/funded-proposals\/entry\/879\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/tlef.ubc.ca\/funded-proposals\/entry\/879\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color\">EaSEIL<\/mark><\/span><\/a><\/strong>, is a 3 year-long initiative focused on reimagining, developing, and transforming field-based experiential learning opportunities for students in science and engineering courses at the University of British creates a capacity building space, a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/easeil\/our-cop-model\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Community of Practice<\/a><\/mark><\/span> to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Incorporate Indigenous histories, contemporary perspectives, Knowledges, and ways of knowing into science and engineering curriculum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Increase accessibility of and inclusive practices in field-based learning opportunities, including the use of digital experience technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Integrate interdisciplinary and systems thinking approaches into field-based activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33%\">\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\" style=\"font-size:30px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">how?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Through our community of practice model,\u00a0members engage in regular individual &amp; collaborative reflection, learning, and production activities to advance curriculum development efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Using students as partners models, EaSEIL fosters students\u2019 sense of belonging and enriches their identity development as disciplinary experts by amplifying their perspectives, experiences, and needs in Community of Practice discussions and resource development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">EaSEIL strives to foster engagement and partnership with Indigenous communities for field-based learning curriculum development.
