About Us

The EAST Study seeks to understand how our feelings, thoughts, and body work together and apart during and after we exercise.

There is a fascinating link between the mind and body when individuals exercise. The act of moving faster and exerting more energy triggers chemical changes in the body. In the brain, these changes can alter the way that we think about the activities that we are doing. The goal of this study is to determine how exercise influences the chemicals in our body, as well how these chemicals change the way that we think and feel about exercise.

The CAPE Study is being conducted by the University of British Columbia and takes place at the Fitness, Aging, and Stress (FAST) Lab at UBC’s School of Kinesiology.
