Discussion #1: Invasive Technology

Zhao and Frank use an invasive species, the zebra mussel, to represent new technology coming into classrooms. Invasive species can have negative impacts on ecosystems often displacing keystone species, overtaking niches and eventually causing a complete overhaul of the ecosystem.  What experiences have you had with technology as an invasive species?

As well, Zhao and Frank state that grassroots technology (interested teachers) introductions are more successful than top down (administered Pro-D) action.  Have you noticed the same result?
