Below is a list of this week’s activities. Please do not feel constrained to the days indicated. We want to allow for temporal flexibility.
Sunday
– Launch of DLG 10 – Begin to read articles
Monday
– Continue to read articles – Look at our wiki – Post one word that describes your thoughts about technology and ecology in the discussion thread on the forum. We will be creating a word cloud with the terms at the end of the week and will post it under the conclusion section of our wiki.
Tuesday and Wednesday
– SOUL days: relax, reflect and rejuvenate – Choose one technology to give up for an evening
Thursday
– Respond to one or two of the discussion questions – Complete the ecological footprint quiz: www.myfootprint.org. Reflect on the implications of your quiz results. Think about how you can be more sustainable.
– Live forum at 7:00 PM. The discussion will be concerning the technology you gave up for an evening. Why did you choose that particular technology, how did you feel about not using it and what did you do with your time instead?
Friday
– Respond to a classmate’s post – Watch the following video by David Attenborough. Think about how the history of Easter Island reflects the impacts of technology and the current global environmental crisis.
Saturday
– Complete the survey for each reading: Carolyn Merchant and Factors Affecting Technology Uses – Conclude the week
