Please pick one question from below to guide your discussion:

  1. Zhao and Frank make it clear that the implementation of technology in the school is “mediated or filtered by teachers’ perceptions” (p.817). What are your views on the use of technology in the classroom? Have they changed throughout this program?
  2. If you look at Figure 2 (Zhao & Frank p. 829), which phase would you say your school “ecosystem” is in, and why?
  3. Zhao states that “teachers may pressure each other” (p.817) to incorporate technology in their classroom to improve the viability of computer use in their school ecosystem, and defines pressure as “the threat of detachment or ostracization” (p.834). Do you see any problem with implementing technology in this way?
  4. Feel like being a little creative? If you had to describe technology in your district in terms of a species within an ecosystem, what would your ecosystem be? What species would technology be? Feel free to upload your analogy in any form of media (please include descriptors if necessary). Some ideas: create a toon, upload an audio clip, design a diagram, take a photograph or devise a wordmap.
