The ocarina is an ancient woodwind (Wiki source). Materials for ocarinas are usually ceramic, and may include plastic, wood, glass, clay, metal, and even vegetables. It has a smooth, high-pitched sound which is slightly less shrill than the flute.

Did you know you could play the ocarina in your iPhone??

Personally, I have never seen an ocarina. To be honest, the first time I learned the word ‘ocarina’ was from the Nintendo game, The Ocarina of Time, from the Legend of Zelda series.

Danny showed us an app for the iPhone called ‘Ocarina’ which is used by blowing into the microphone. When connected to the internet, you can hear another person play the ocarina somewhere else in the world! I thought that was a pretty creative feature to put into an app.
